Henry Andrew Harper

(1835 - 3 November 1900)

Born in Blunham, Bedfordshire. He exhibited landscape views at the Royal Academy, London 1865-88, concentrating on Eastern scenes 1873-7. He was a committee member of the Palestine Exploration Fund and published books on the Holy Land.

He died in London and his obituary described him as of Buckhurst Lodge, Westerham, Kent.

Henry Andrew Harper exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1865. But it is from 1874 that produced Orientalist scenes after a trip to Egypt and the Middle East carried out. He spent some time in 1872, in Palestine and Cairo painting landscapes. He was also a literary author.
